Google Public DNS
I heard about this on Twit.tv’s “This Week in Google.” Google now has public DNS. I tried it and it speeds up the loading of web pages. By default your computer uses the DNS of your ISP. Obviously, these can get really busy. You can find it here.

Just saw it in 3D. Well worth it. I am not a big fan of current movies but this was very entertaining. Review in today’s NY Times nails it.
following up on the picture
This is from my favorite cookbook called “Spanish Country Kitchen.” The dish is called “catalan pasta.” It includes spare ribs and pork sausage. One of the very unique things was using a thin pasta, breaking it up and then sauteeing it uncooked in olive oil. It gets added to the entire mix later with chicken broth and some water. unintended consequence
From time to time I post here or on Twitter that I am sitting through yet another audit committee meeting (I’m on 3.) That kind of work is mind numbing and only exceeded when it crosses over to actuarial assumptions regarding penion plans and retiree medical benefits. After my last whine a CPA group started following me on Twitter. They will be disappointed.
solved
After 3 days the mystery has been solved. There is a hose in the front walkway we use to rinse sand from the beach. The hose was turned on although the nozzle was shut with the result being a whistle we could hear in the house. Forgot how it feels to solve a problem without google.
house mystery
There is a soft, high pitched, fluctuating whine in the front of the house. WE are going crazy trying to figure out what it is. Thought I had the answer (wind coming into the house from a duct to the dryer) but no! Can’t even google it for help.
